It was first published in 1902 in instalments in the Ladies’ Home Journal before being published as a book in 1903. Widely considered to be one of the most inspiring life accounts ever written, it details Helen’s life as a blind, deaf, and mute person up to the age of 22. Helen Keller’s teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan, played a central role in her life, right from moving her away from home to teaching her the Tadoma method of communication. Anne Sullivan’s actions towards Helen went a long way in transforming the way she lived her life and interacted with the world.
