Donne ristrette

The volume is born from the desire to combine different skills and sensibilities to look at the “narrow” feminine universe that is at the same time endowed with a strong common identity. Attention focuses on restrictive cases that respond to different reasons, are consumed according to their own methods and times and within specifically dedicated places of execution. None of them, however, can legitimately abdicate the guarantee fund through which the art. 13 of our Constitution gives substance to the inviolability of personal freedom. All, instead, must respect the principle of equality, which does not tolerate the forced dissolution of diversity under a blindly common treatment: the consideration of gender differences is an essential condition of gender equality. In the volume they cross different ways of understanding this difference and approach it in the evaluation of the presuppositions and in the discipline of the ways of restricting personal freedom towards the female universe. Some retrospective contributions take care of allowing a glance at the constants and the variables that have so far marked the path of restricted women in the Italian context.
